在创建PostgreSQL Database时，字符编码值
BIG5, GBK, GB18030已经为无效值。
如：
[postgres@localhost postgres]$/usr/local/postgresql-8.2.4/bin/initdb -D /u/postgres/gbkdata/ -E GBK -U root
initdb: "GBK" is not a valid server encoding name
目前建议采用
UTF8或者
EUC_CN、EUC_TW、MULE_INTERNAL。
这里仅仅与其他数据库做一个对比而已。
